Stafford Borough Council
The Borough
Stafford Borough is a unique place to work and live. It is home to around 125,000 residents spread across two major towns and several picturesque villages.
Its qualities have always been a well kept secret within the Midlands region….until now.
The County Town of Stafford is to undergo an amazing transformation with a huge amount of investment coming to the town. Millions of pounds worth of leisure and retail premises are earmarked over the next few years - just see for yourself. (www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/cme6304.htm)
Stafford's history will not be lost in the transformation with historical landmarks like Stafford Castle (www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/welcome.asp?id=50) and the Ancient High House (www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/welcome.asp?id=132) continuing to thrive.
But don’t take our word for it - a national television programme placed Stafford as the fourth best place to live in the UK for 'value for money.'
“'With house prices 10% lower than the regional average what's not to like about Stafford. It's a great location and there seems to be something for everyone - history, new facilities and a very bright future.” - Ian Blandford, presenter of Chanel 5’s ’Property list.’
Only eight miles up the road is the bustling market town of Stone - situated midway along the Trent and Mersey Canal. Heralded as the ‘Food and Drink’ capital of Staffordshire it plays host to many themed markets - such as the French, European and World Markets. Its main attraction is the town’s annual Food and Drink Festival www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/Documents/Regeneration/Stone-Food-and-Drink-Festival.pdf
The Council
The Council aims to improve quality of life for those who live, work and visit Stafford Borough.
Of course, we are responsible for keeping the streets clean and collecting recycling and waste but the Council does much much more. We run fantastic leisure facilities (www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/cme4750.htm) and theatre (www.staffordgatehousetheatre.co.uk), lead on climate change initiatives (www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/welcome.asp?id=909), manage new developments and organise local and national elections, as well as ensuring our residents get the benefits they are entitled to.
Our priorities are to provide:
• Prosperity for all
• A cleaner, greener and safer community
• Health and Wellbeing
• A Council that leads and delivers for its residents
