Herefordshire Council
As the county's largest employer, Herefordshire Council employs more than 5,500 people full-time, part-time, and on a temporary basis. It offers its employees a wide range of career opportunities and development across some 700 services.
Herefordshire Council prides itself on being a first class employer and encourages personal, professional development and offers an on-going training programme. It is committed to providing services that the people of Herefordshire want and need, to the best possible standard, outlined in the council’s core values.
Herefordshire Council aims to provide services that the people of Herefordshire want, to the best possible standard. To achieve this the Council must:
Aim for excellence in service provision and work in partnership with the communities it represents, and external organisations.
• Employees are encouraged to use their skills creatively, and develop their potential, so that working for Herefordshire is a positive experience.
• Everyone within and outside the Council is treated with fairness, courtesy and respect.
• We can improve our services by working closely with and responding to the needs of communities we represent, our customers, the public and partners.
• We communicate in an honest, open, timely and regular way, and make sure people are recognised for jobs well done. Ideas are encouraged and taken seriously; we learn from things that don't work and make sure we share learning and good practice.
Herefordshire Council works in partnership with central and local government to help support the citizens of the county. It is responsible for many key services, including education, social services, highways, planning and economic regeneration. As a unitary authority it also manages a large number of additional services, most prominently council tax collection and domestic refuse collection.
