How to apply
How to apply for a job with Shropshire Council
We encourage on-line applications, and these can be made via www.shropshire.gov.uk/vacancies.nsf or through wmjobs.
Alternatively you can request a hard copy of the job pack and application form (please note this is the same information that is available on-line) from the Shropshire Recruitment Team on 0845 6789004, email srt.requestjobpack@shropshire.gov.uk Please include your postal address when making this request, as we are currently unable to e-mail the pack to you.
If you have a specific enquiry about any vacancy please contact the Shropshire Recruitment Team on 0845 6789004, email srt.helpdesk@shropshire.gov.uk in the first instance.
An application form needs to be completed in full every time you apply for a post and to be returned by the closing date. Please do not send CVs.
Advice and Guidance on making your job application and what happens next
Your completed application form is the first stage in the recruitment process which may lead to an interview and the possibility of a job.
We will be interested in whether you have the essential skills, experience, qualifications and competencies that we have said we are looking for in the Person Specification that is created for each job.
Please give as much relevant information as possible about your experience, skills or training which would show you meet the requirements as set out in the person specification. Include any non-work activities if they are relevant.
Your application form will be carefully considered by the manager who is advertising the job, to decide whether you will be called for interview. Normally you will have heard from us within 28 days of the closing date if you are going to be invited for an interview. Due to the high number of applications received by the Council, regrettably we cannot reply individually to every applicant and if you have not been contacted within 28 days of the closing date, you should assume that your application has been unsuccessful.
References
You are requested to give referee details from two employers, the first of which must be your current employer or more recent employer.
If you have only had one employer at the time of applying, then please give their details as your first referee. Your second referee should be a person, in a position of standing or authority (Full list of authorised people available from the link on this page) who has known you for at least two years.
