About East Staffordshire Borough Council
East Staffordshire Borough Council is a major borough council, serving a population of approximately 110,000. Our vision is to enhance the lives of those who live and work in East Staffordshire by enabling and encouraging people to enjoy better lifestyles, using economic growth to create a better environment and strengthening our communities.
Our borough is part of the National Forest and essentially rural in character. It has many villages stretching from Barton under Needwood in the south, Leigh in the west, Mayfield in the north, and borders Derbyshire to the east. There are two main towns, Burton upon Trent, which is a famous brewery town and is the capital of the National Forest, and Uttoxeter, the area's second town.
East Staffordshire guarantees a great quality of life for those that live and work in the area. Enviable shopping and leisure facilities combine with picturesque villages, inspirational countryside, ancient woodland and a meandering canal network to ensure everyone has something to enjoy. We are also home to the St Georges Park FA Centre.
We are a high performing Council and as a result have been commended on a national scale, collecting awards for procurement, family nurse partnership, energy saving projects, dance projects and the Council won in the ‘Central Services Team of the Year’ category at the 2013 Local Government Chronicle awards.
