Learning & Development
Stafford Borough Council uses a combination of approaches and techniques to encourage and develop individual learning and growth.
From the very start you will receive a warm welcome through an induction which will give you the opportunity to go through your role and responsibilities, terms of employment, learn about some of our key policies and procedures as well as provide you with some practical information to make the transition into your new role as smooth and effective as possible.
At Stafford Borough Council we recognise that one approach does not fit all. Performance Development Reviews are completed on a regular basis to assess an individual's performance and development needs. Coaching and mentoring is used to develop individual skills, knowledge and confidence while e-learning is used to support personal responsibility and a blended approach to learning.
In addition, a welcome day is held with the Chief Executive for all new recruits, we support professional memberships and invest in Management Development initiatives to develop current, new and potential managers for the future. We believe in 'on the job’ learning and encourage our staff to complete NVQs which provide a practical and flexible approach to learning that meets both individual and business objectives.
We also encourage individuals to put forward their ideas and challenge existing practices where there’s scope for improvement.
