Welcome to Redditch! At the heart of Worcestershire, we've cultivated a community where lush green spaces coexist with modern amenities and an urban lifestyle. Redditch invites you to be part of a community where tradition meets progress. Every ward tells a story, from the "New Town Districts" of the 1970s and 1980s to the older "Former Village Districts" dominating the south and west. As you explore our compact borough of 54 square miles, discover over five million trees, cultural landmarks, thriving industry and a commitment to leisure facilities.

Purpose

From its first recorded mention echoing the red clay of the River Arrow to the New Town Districts built in the 1970s and 1980s, our town stands as a testament to purposeful growth.

Strategically positioned at the heart of Worcestershire and the British motorway network, Redditch is a hub of opportunity. Fast and easy connections via the M42 junctions just five miles away make us an ideal location for business ventures. Birmingham, England's second city, is a mere 14 miles away and seamlessly connected by rail, while Birmingham International Airport is less than 30 minutes' drive.

People

Redditch, with its borough population of 87,037, is more than just a town—it's a vibrant community shaped by a diverse population. As a designated New Town since 1964, our community thrives on the energy of a younger-than-average population, fostering a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere more akin to a city, like neighbouring Birmingham.

Pride

Redditch takes immense pride in its cultural and industrial legacy. From the historic Bordesley Abbey and the award-winning Arrow Valley Country Park to the modern Kingfisher Shopping Centre, every corner reflects our commitment to preserving the old while embracing the new.

Performance

Our town is steeped in a history of performance and innovation that continues to shape our present. Once the world’s largest manufacturer of needles, the birthplace of the Royal Enfield motorcycle and the home of the international headquarters of GKN and Halfords, Redditch is a “flagship town” with progression always at the forefront. The town also won a Green Apple Award in 2011 for their bold Crematorium Energy Recovery Project where waste heat energy from the crematorium was used to supplement the heating requirements of the nearby Abbey Stadium Swimming Pool. Big changes are on the horizon, thanks to the UKSPF Levelling Up funding which will see the creation of a brand-new Town Centre Hub, new train station, central plaza, digital innovation centre and other public realm improvements. The town continues to thrive and grow!
