Visitor Economy Partnership Development Manager

 

Salary:  £47,845- £51,814 per annum – Grade 12

 

 37 Hours per week – Fixed Term until 31/10/2024

 

 

 

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a dynamic, motivated and flexible individual who can set the strategy for and kick start the transformation of our tourism and wider visitor economy in response to the significant challenges faced by the sector as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic.

 

The role will oversee and shape the strategic direction and activities of our Destination Management Partnership which brings together the key local private, community and public sector organisations who work together to increase the volume and value of tourism in Staffordshire.

 

With an enviable location at the heart of the UK, Staffordshire’s visitor economy is substantial, with a value of some £1.87 billion per annum, supporting 32,000 jobs and attracting 28 million visitors per year.

 

Hosted within the Business and Enterprise Team of Staffordshire County Council you will work collaboratively as part of a broader team, providing key support to the place marketing of Staffordshire and bringing life to the recently launched Staffordshire story and place brand.

 

This will involve working in partnership with a range of organisations, public and commercial partners at a local, national and international level to truly promote Staffordshire as a great place to visit and enjoy. You will also lead the development of a forward thinking strategy of how the local visitor will grow in years to come.

 

Applicants should have an exceptional understanding of tourism and the visitor economy, holding an appropriate degree level or equivalent qualification and/or significant experience within a business engagement of marketing environment of a large or complex customer facing organisation.

 

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to build strong influential relationships with businesses, peers and leaders and the ability to engender the confidence of others.  You will be required to work flexibly and creatively to tackle challenging and changing priorities working towards the vision of maximising the volume and value of the local visitor economy.

 

Applicants should have a strong track record of leading successful marketing strategies, be able to compellingly communicate to key stakeholders and experience of leveraging external funding and prudent financial management.

 

The role is responsible for the supervision of others and it is therefore expected that applicants demonstrate the ability to manage others including work planning, prioritising activities and performance monitoring.
