Accommodation Finding Service Officer

Birmingham City Council is seeking enthusiastic people to join our newly formed Accommodation Finding Service.  We are looking for ambitious individuals who have good knowledge of Birmingham’s Private Rented Sector market.

The main purpose of this role is to support the service maximise growth of Private Rented Sector (PRS) properties and alternative housing solutions by building on networks and developing exceptional relationships with PRS landlords, Housing Associations and other housing providers.

The successful candidate will deliver marketing activities to ensure service targets are met and a constant flowing pipeline of properties are secured that allow the service to successfully discharge its statutory homelessness duties into the Private Rented Sector.

We are looking for determined individuals who have a passionate about preventing homelessness and changing people’s lives and have:

  • successful experience of working in a property sales/letting/marketing role
  • possess good engagement, negotiation and influencing skills to secure suitable accommodation solutions for homeless households
  • experience of successfully developing relationships and working in partnership with a range of housing providers.
  • knowledge of relevant Private Rented Sector legislation
  • the ability to deliver outreach tenancy support
  • good attention to detail and can work in a demanding environment
  • the ability to deal with customers in a sensitive and appropriate manner
