Permanent (37 hours)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Pensions Assistant within the Fund’s benefit operations team.

The West Midlands Pension Fund is a local authority Pension Fund based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. The Fund is one of the UK’s largest pension funds, managing and administering the pension interest of our members and scheme employers. We currently have over 323,000 scheme members, over 700 employers with £16bn of assets under management.

The Fund provides a customer-focused and quality service working cost effectively to secure the future of our member’s pensions.

We are seeking a highly organised and flexible full-time Pensions Assistant with good mathematical, communication and technical skills.

The position is based in the Benefit Operations team, focusing on the processing of deferment benefits, transfers in and out of the Fund and associated supporting processes, where all activity is managed against a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

The position includes responsibility for:

  • Processing and authorising deferment (early leaver) benefits for members, completing additional associated processes for example transfers of and joining of member records within the Fund.
  • Calculating and administering the transfers in and out of the Fund from and to other local government funds and external pension schemes.
  • Processing and validating amendments to a member’s record resulting from changes in employment and personal circumstances.
  • Working to set targets and ensuring achievement of key performance indicators for the team.
