Within Warwickshire County Council, the Economy and Skills Team commissions services and provides direct support to businesses, including access to finance, skills and training, business centres and inward investment. Recently we have launched a number of new economic recovery programmes to support our businesses, schools and residents. We are also developing a range of new activities in support of the Council’s Covid-19 Recovery Plan, including the £140 million Warwickshire Recovery and Investment Fund.

 

Funding Lead

 

An exciting opportunity has become available, focusing on the employability and skills funding needs of Warwickshire. The Council has a successful track record of securing external funding from European, Government and other funders and we are looking for an experienced Funding Lead to join the Employability and Skills Team – part of the wider Economy and Skills Group.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to support the Lead Commissioner to identify new opportunities to support the current and future employability and skills of Warwickshire.

 

As a priority, you will lead on shaping and informing Government, regional and sub-regional strategies, policies and funding programmes. You will also lead on identifying and attracting external and other funding to support our employability and skills agenda. This will include leading the design, development, commissioning, and management of new projects, programmes and initiatives as well as advising and supporting other colleagues.

 

Key Skills and Experiences

 

The successful candidate will have significant experience of employability and skills, including working with Government funders and economic development agencies. You will have detailed knowledge of external funding programmes including their priorities, rules, requirements and processes. You will also have a successful track record of developing major projects and programmes including the preparation of business cases and securing external and other funding.

 

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key personal attributes, working effectively with a range of stakeholders including senior business leaders and education providers is an important part of the role and you will be expected to work on your own initiative, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
