Band 6 Experienced Social Workers in Newcastle Adult Social Care Community Team

–  2 Full-Time posts available (37.5hrs pw)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Social Worker within the locality adult care team in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire. The successful candidates should have at leave three years post qualifying experience and previous experience in social work in a community setting is desirable. The post will involve undertaking assessments, support planning, review and safeguarding enquiries of vulnerable adults in line with the Care Act, 2014. The successful applicant will be required to complete mental capacity act assessments and best interest decisions in line with the Mental Capacity Act, 2005.

The remit of the service is to support the citizens of Staffordshire predominantly over the age of 18 with physical disabilities and older people over the age of 65 with physical and mental health disabilities.

You will be accountable to the Practice Lead and will have support from other senior colleagues as well providing peer support to your team.

You will be working in partnership with colleagues within our wider care group and a good knowledge of the services available to support and promote independence in the home environment is essential.

It is highly desirable for the successful candidate to have either an Approved Mental Health Professional, Best Interest Assessor or Practice Educator qualification or the willingness to work towards obtaining one of these.

You will need to have a full driving licence and access to a car. This is both an interesting and challenging post for someone who has a commitment to improving outcomes for the citizens of Staffordshire.
