Operational Health and Safety Advisor

Salary:  £32,234 - £36,922 per annum

 37 Hours per week – Fixed Term contract (Full time) until 30 June 2022

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Service to drive the health and safety culture forward within a work environment that offers variety and responsibility across a broad range of services.

You will advise, monitor and provide practical support to council services, schools and academies.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have previous experience within a health and safety role, be qualified at NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent and hold corporate membership of IOSH.

The environment is complex and presents unique challenges, so we are looking for an effective communicator who will be able to influence and use their initiative to ensure health and safety compliance and continual improvement.

Great communications skills, from developing reports about complex issues to delivering health and safety training is essential. You will also need to have experience of carrying out audits, inspections, accident investigations and implementing health and safety policies and procedures.

It will be an advantage to have experience of liaising and working with schools as the council provides a traded service to schools and academies.

This role requires the ability to travel across Staffordshire and occasionally outside of Staffordshire. Casual Car User allowance will apply to the role.
