An exciting opportunity has arisen at the award-winning City of Wolverhampton Council, for a full-time HR Advisor (fixed term for 12 months) to join our HR team with a focus on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).

 

The Council is currently engaging with approximately 2,000 employees about flexible working changes to Relight our Council once national covid restrictions are lifted, including technology requirements, impact and re-design of space within office buildings, changes to working hours etc. In addition, we are refreshing Our People Strategy to ensure we support our employees in the right way by providing internal development opportunities, training and mentoring. We also have four equality forums and an ambitious 2030 vision enabling us to ensure we are an inclusive and diverse employer of choice.

 

You will promote, develop, monitor and advise on the implementation of HR policies and procedures which enhance equality, value diversity and promote best practice.

You will work with our Equality and Diversity team and Staff Equality Forums to support the HR team to achieve our HR Equality Action Plan, manage expectations and bring back any HR related actions for discussion.

You will also work with our Performance Insight team to support the introduction of diversity data for the Council to ensure we are achieving our EDI aims, support on any EDI / HR initiatives, such as Gender Pay Gap reporting, increase our portfolio of reporting against other protected characteristics, prepare meaningful recommendations and inform progress against the Council’s ambitions/pledges and equalities reports.

The successful applicant will have a post graduate diploma in HRM or equivalent, good understanding of employment law and equality and diversity practice. You will have a high standard of communication and presentation skills, be able to manage a diverse workload and deal with confidential and sensitive issues. Experience of supporting HR projects and transformation would be an advantage.
