Cemeteries Assistant

Street Scene delivers high standards of cemeteries grounds maintenance and street cleansing across the Borough. With modern, efficient working practices, we have developed a multi-skilled workforce, which delivers an integrated service. We are looking for committed individuals to contribute to the service and further improve the local environmental quality within Tamworth.

As part of Street Scene, you will be required to provide the full range of cemeteries grounds maintenance and cleansing duties in accordance with agreed standards of service delivery and customer care. This will include the use and operation of various vehicles (for which a full driving license is essential), plant and equipment, for which training will be provided.

Typical operations include, locating grave’s, marking out the area’s to be excavated, setting out walk boards, setting out spoil boards, removing turf, digging the grave’s, ensuring graves are excavated to correct depth, shoring, dealing with ground water, preparing area’s for interment, back filling grave’s, restore / replace saved turf on top of grave’s, ensuring all duties are undertaken in accordance with corporate health and safety requirements and with agreed standards of service delivery and customer care.

We are seeking individuals experienced in cemeteries/ground works and grounds maintenance to work alongside an established team.

Applicants must have the ability to work 5 days out of 7 per week including bank holidays.
