At St John’s School, we believe that Quality First Teaching is at the heart of a strong inclusion policy and is the key driver of progress and achievement. However we also acknowledge that some of our children may need additional support in and outside of the classroom. The role of an Inclusion Support Assistant is to maximise the potential and opportunities for all children (including vulnerable learners) whilst meeting their individual needs. This will include 1:1 support and possibly some small group work. We are looking to appoint an Inclusion Support Assistant as soon as possible. The role requires that the successful applicant work as a supportive member of our SEND Team and provide support in all areas of the curriculum, particularly for students identified as having Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (specifically ASD).We wish to appoint a candidate who has a strong passion for supporting the learning and progress of all students who have barriers to learning within the SEND framework, particularly those with ASD and Communication Difficulties. This will be an exciting time to join us at St John’s as we build our inclusion department, with the opening of our ‘Lantern Hub’ providing a fully specialised curriculum for children who require an individualised approach. will be working closely with our own Speech and Language Therapists and an Occupational Therapy team in order to build the most effective curriculum for our pupils.
The successful candidate will be:
* an outstanding communicator and advocate for vulnerable students
* able to manage a 'caseload' of personalised education programmes for students with high levels of SEND needs
* able to independently manage specific outcome-led projects or short-term interventions driven by the needs of students and the school
* willing to demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours of St John’s School
* able to enthuse, engage, motivate and challenge students to raise standards and achievement
* committed to working with young people who have a range of barriers to learning
* committed to working with staff, parents and agencies to promote best practice for learners who have barriers to learning
Experience would be an advantage but not essential.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
