Opportunity within The Children’s Disability Service

Family Practitioner, Children’s Disability Service Newcastle and Moorlands – Part Time 22 hours

Salary: Grade 7: £23,541 - £27,041 Pro Rata

Staffordshire County Council continues to undertake significant investment in its Children’s Services known as Families First.

A rare opportunity has arisen for a Part Time Family Practitioner within the Children’s Disability Service. The Part-Time post is based in Newcastle, Staffordshire, covering Newcastle and the Moorlands, working Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

We have 4 Children’s Disability teams across the County, and they provide specialist services for children and young people with complex disabilities.

The teams are supported by skilled Family Practitioners who assist in facilitating behaviour management work, practical support and undertaking direct work with children and their families. The work of the service is diverse across the breath of social work tasks and functions. This may include some occasional out of hours and weekend working.

Family Practitioners in this service are required to be creative and innovative. The candidate will be expected to be a team player. The ability to engage and communicate with disabled children is essential and the successful applicant will be committed to ensuring the children they support receive the best quality service.

If you are confident and have the skills and experience to work within a busy Social Work team, then this is an opportunity for you to further your expertise.

This Authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This position is subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions in your application form.
