Clerk to Governors

Brownsover Community School are looking to appoint a clerk to governors to join our team. Effective governance is essential to the success of our school, and our clerk has a key role to play to support this.

We seek to appoint an efficient individual with excellent administrative and IT skills to facilitate the work of our governing body.

The role will involve clerking 10 two-hour meetings over the school year (4 meetings in autumn term and 3 meetings in each of spring & summer terms). Meetings are at 6pm on Thursdays. Currently they are virtual on Microsoft teams but if in-person meetings resume, these will take place at the school.

The successful candidate will be paid for 78 hrs over the year to cover both attendance at meetings and preparation time. Scale point D13. The Pro Rata'd salary range of £703.10 is based on a FTE salary range of £16,863.

Key Requirements

Responsibilities will include:
•attending and taking minutes at governor meetings;
•preparing and distributing agendas, minutes and other paper work;
•maintaining records of attendance, training etc.;
•advising governors on procedural, constitutional and legal requirements of governance;
•ensuring that governors are advised of current developments in education regulations.
The ideal candidate will be:
•Well organised and have the ability to work to tight deadlines.
•Be able to use microsoft teams to organise and set up virtual meetings.
•Flexible and adaptable to suit the needs and requirements of the Governing Body.
•Confident in communicating at all levels.
•Able to remain professional when handling confidential material.
•Knowledgeable on governance procedures and educational legislation and guidance and/or willingness to develop knowledge.
