The Role

Worcestershire has one of the fastest growing economies in the country and Worcestershire County Council’s investment into infrastructure is greater now than at any stage in the last 30 years.

‘Open for business’ is one of Worcestershire County Council’s main priorities for driving business and economic growth by reducing journey times, improving connectivity and increasing employment opportunities.

To meet this corporate priority, we are investing in exciting new civil engineering schemes throughout the county from building new roads, railway stations through to new bridges, making Worcestershire a fantastic place to live, work, travel through and do business in.

Our Economy and Infrastructure Directorate is responsible for delivering these amazing schemes as well as maintaining our highways network with road repairs and gritting services, through to public transport, public rights of way, waste disposal services and flood alleviation schemes to name but a few.

Our Strategic Initiative Team plays a vital role in identifying and securing funding for strategic initiatives and acquiring key pieces of land for economic development schemes and our Major Infrastructure Projects Team is responsible for the development and delivery of large and complex civil engineering projects such as the Southern Link Road, Worcestershire Parkway Railway Station and town centre regeneration throughout the county.

Our investment in people includes qualified engineers, planners, surveyors, project management and civil engineering professionals to support the delivery of our corporate priorities. We are now looking for additional colleagues to join our teams and offer knowledge, expertise and professionalism.

Worcestershire is a superb county to live and work in with its beautiful natural environment, excellent schools and great connectivity.

In our Major Projects team, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of major highways and rail infrastructure projects across the county within agreed timescales, resources and governance. You will be an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record in the development and delivery of large-scale capital civils within this field, including property and digital infrastructure. You will be adept and experienced in contract management, preferably NEC4 and managing large budgets in excess of £3million. These are complex and diverse projects that will require you to have significant experience of working in a partnership environment and managing a variety of different stakeholders.
