About us

We are looking to appoint a Highways Asset Management Officer to join our successful and innovative team. You will play a key role in shaping the strategic maintenance of Warwickshire’s transport infrastructure which is vital to supporting sustainable economic growth and prosperity. The role offers an excellent opportunity to progress your career in asset management.

The Highways and Transport Group commissions highways projects that align with the strategic objectives of Warwickshire County Council. Following a restructure, the group has recently launched a project to implement strategic oversight of asset management activities across all delivery functions related to transport, such as carriageway maintenance and structural repairs. There is much more to come over the next few years as this process is implemented and refined.

About the role

The successful applicant can expect a varied and challenging workload that is commensurate with the job grade. This will include taking ownership of the development and implementation of asset management policies working alongside colleagues responsible for delivering those policies. The successful applicant will also work closely with the Lead Commissioner for Strategy and Policy in maintaining oversight of asset management policy, funding and strategy and ensuring regular liaison and cooperation across the council’s asset management activities.

Key skills and experience required

To be successful in these role, you will need to be motivated, creative, organised and willing to take responsibility for the success of your activities. You will need good analytical skills in order to develop detailed understanding of highway asset management problems and to identify, explore and develop solutions. As you will be working with and alongside a wide range of internal and external colleagues, partners and clients, you will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and be used to providing technical information to varied audiences.  

Experience in asset management or related activity is desirable, but not essential as on-the-job training will be given.

These post is advertised on a full time basis, but applications from candidates seeking flexible or part-time working arrangements will be considered.
