Temporary SEND Teaching Assistant with working knowledge of BSL

Grade 3  £18,933 – £20,092 per annum (£14,367-£15,246 pro rata to hours and weeks worked) with the potential to progress to Grade 4 dependant on knowledge and skills.

32.5 hours per week, working Monday-Friday 8.30-3.30.  Term Time only plus Teacher Training Days.

Temporary, to start as soon as possible with an end date of 8 April 2022.

We are looking to appoint a 1:1 teaching assistant to offer support to a hearing-impaired pupil who communicates using spoken language supported with sign / BSL as part of our friendly and hardworking Year 2 team. The post is temporary initially and our commitment and hope is that the role may develop into a perm role or another role.

Our support staff team is integral to the school’s vision to ensure that all children achieve their full potential in all aspects of school life.  You would be part of our drive to achieve an outstanding quality of education for every child.

Our successful candidate will be a motivated professional who will inspire and enthuse our children and support them in making good progress in their learning and social/emotional development.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children who communicate through BSL.
  • Has a desire to further develop their skills
  • Has excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Can support in providing high quality childcare and education
  • To promote high expectations and support pupil engagement with learning
  • Support the classroom teacher with their responsibility for the development and education process.
  • Will work in respectful partnership with parents/carers when supporting children in their learning and development
  • Has a sound knowledge of behaviour management and SEND
  • Is approachable and resilient
