About Us and the Role

 

We are recruiting to a permanent Finance Officer role in the Operational Finance Delivery Team supporting Communities and Resources Services

This role, line managed by a Senior Accountant and supervised by an Accountant, is part of a team which provides high quality financial advice and support to senior managers and cost centre managers in relation to their financial responsibilities, both revenue and capital.  It also supports the County Council's financial framework processes by providing service financial information to enable the preparation of medium term financial plans, annual budgets, monthly budget monitoring/forecasting and year end closedown.

As well as monitoring and forecasting, budget setting and planning, year end processes and reporting, the role will support Accountants in providing financial input to procurement and the evaluation of financial tenders, the financial implications in reports and the financial aspects of projects and business cases including costing and option appraisals.

The role is key to ensuring that appropriate challenge and assurance is provided by the finance service whilst also delivering services financial information that adds value to their decision making and business planning processes.

We are looking for appropriately qualified or experienced finance professionals who can:

  • independently interpret and analyse varied and complex information or situations and produce solutions
  • communicate, in person and/or in writing, complicated or sensitive information with varied audiences
  • work under pressure including meeting unpredictable deadlines and dealing with conflicting demands
  • lead on the development of the financial aspects of policy/service practice meeting the requirements of specific services
