Birmingham City Council is seeking an enthusiastic people to join our busy Housing Support & Solutions Team to deliver our services. We are recruiting to multiple permanent positions. If you are proactive, customer focussed, passionate about preventing homelessness and would like to do meaningful work than this might be just the job for you! This role requires the post holder to assist to prevent and resolve the homelessness of customers that approach our service and provide effective homelessness & housing advice. You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to work flexibly due to different demands and operate in a coordinated manner with other team members to ensure successful outcomes. We are looking for someone who is able to be empathetic and respond to sensitive issues effectively, but who is firm when necessary. You will need to use your own initiative to resolve issues, and to be able to work under pressure in a very demanding environment.

We are looking for people who:

• Have experience of working in a customer focused environment including front line customer service experience

• Have strong communication (written & verbal) skills

• Have good planning, organising & IT skills

• Are accurate and attentive to detail

• Are empathetic and able to deal with customers in a sensitive and appropriate manner in a demanding environment

• Have experience of applying the relevant legislation
