32.5 hours working Monday 8.45 – 4.20, Tues – Fri 8.45 – 3.30
Abbey Hill School & College is a successful and over-subscribed school meeting the needs of children and young people with learning difficulties, communication & interaction difficulties and/or Autistic Spectrum Conditions. Our governors are seeking to employ a suitably experienced and qualified individual to work in our College alongside a dedicated and supportive team who are committed to ensuring the best outcomes for our students.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience of working with children of a relevant age in a learning environment. You should possess the ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues and parents / carers. You must be computer literate, organised and have a good general standard of education at Level 2 or above, including English and Maths as well as meeting the professional standards for HLTAs
- To provide classroom cover of up to 3 days during any short-term teacher absence.
- To work with teachers as part of a professional team to organise and support teaching and learning activities for SEN pupils, including classes.
- The primary focus is to work with individuals and groups delivering specified work under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.
- To plan, organise and undertake other related duties to fully support and underpin learning, personal and social development.
It is essential that the successful candidate is physically able to support a group of students who are under-taking their DoE. The role will involve participating in and supporting the students with sporting activities and accompanying them on 4 – 5 mile walks on challenging terrain for up to two days a week. Knowledge and experience of the DoE scheme would be an advantage.
