Senior HR Officer
£27,741 - £32,234 per annum
37 hours per week
Two year fixed term contract
Tamworth Borough Council has recently a launched a ‘Reset & Recovery’ organisational change programme, which was approved by Cabinet in July. The ambitious change programme will see the decommissioning of our Head Office building Marmion House and a move towards home and hybrid working for a significant percentage of our staff, together with a review of all terms and conditions of employment and HR policies to support the new model of working.
To support the people aspects of the change programme, a new opportunity has arisen for a Senior HR Officer to provide HR guidance and support to line managers during the consultation process with the affected staff and ensuring that HR enact all contractual changes. As the change programme processes, you will contribute towards the review of HR policies. You will work closely with the Head of HR and Organisational Development and the existing Senior HR Officer to ensure successful delivery of this programme.
In addition to this, you will have designated organisational areas of responsibility and act as their primary contact for providing advice and guidance to employees, line managers and Heads of Service on human resources policies, procedures and terms and conditions of service. You will also advise on employee relations matters including handling disciplinary, grievance, attendance and capability issues.
The ideal candidate will have
- proven experience in change management,
- proven experience in HR case work,
- up to date knowledge of case law, employment law and best practice
- experience of writing HR policies and engaging with the recognised trade unions on policy drafts
- excellent interpersonal skills for supporting others in times of change
- a team player, who is also able to work in a methodical and calm manner
- ideally have a working knowledge of the iTrent HR and Payroll system but this is not essential
The post holder must be CIPD qualified to level 7 and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
