Job Details

Our Financial Operations Team is responsible for processing of payments, arranging charges for clients, monitoring of a budget in excess of £50M and ensuring that for 6000+ clients’ packages of care are recorded accurately on our electronic system.  Our clients range from the age of 18 to over 100.  These clients have social care needs and it is our team’s responsibility to ensure we have payment methods in place for these vulnerable citizens.

Our Business Systems Team provides system support to the customers of Social Care and Educational IT systems.  This role supports hundreds of system users for systems that are crucial in ensuring care is provided to our clients across the city.

Our Programme Delivery Team work on a range of projects to support the improvement and development of the Adult Social Care Service.  These include expanding our use of Care Technology and a current proposal to develop a Coventry Dementia Hub.

What is the job role?

The Business and Continuous Improvement Team within Social Care have 3 exciting apprenticeship opportunities to support in providing a diverse range of functions to drive Social Care in continuing its transformational journey. Please see the attached documents at the bottom of the advert to a profile of one of our previous apprentices and one of the team who manages our apprentices. 

The Administration and Finance Apprentice roles will study towards the Level 3 Business Administrator Standard and there will be common areas of work involved across the 3 positions.
However, each of the roles will be based within a different team and as such will have a different focus:

Financial Operations Team

The role in the Financial Operations Team will focus on Financial Administration such as: Processing of invoices, data inputting, assisting with analysing financial information, assisting our Financial Assessments Team with billing clients.

Business Systems Team

The role in the Business Systems Team will focus on user support within our Children’s Case Management Systems such as: Assisting users in resolving system issues, configuring new options within the system such as addresses and new user accounts and developing guidance notes for new processes and system functionality.

Programme Delivery Team

The role in the Programme Delivery Team will involve providing administrative support to project and programme management including: Meeting and minute co-ordination, creation and maintenance of spreadsheets and supporting presentation of data and information.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for applicants that have:

  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
  • An understanding of what excellent customer service is
  • Strong IT skills, including the ability to use a variety of programs for word processing, data entry, and presentation of documents
  • An understanding of data protection and the importance of confidentiality

The application and selection process for candidates is as follows:

  • Stage 1 (4th October) – Candidates will be shortlisted based on the answers given.
  • Stage 2 (7th October) – Pre-interview and assessment*
  • Stage 3 (13th & 15th) – Final interview (you will only need to attend on one of the dates).

* The pre-interview is a short session to give you further details of the apprenticeship role and to help you understand what to expect from and how to prepare for the final interview. You will also complete a short diagnostic assessment to check the level of Maths and English that you are currently working at and identify any support you may require.
