Working 34.25 hours term time plus INSET + 3 weeks of the school holiday

Required from October 2021

Are you looking for a new challenge in the new academic year? We are looking to employ a highly organised, enthusiastic Playworker Manager to manage our before and after school club - Woodpeckers. You would have a minimum level 4 childcare qualification or ideally a degree in childcare. You would be leading a team of very capable and experienced Playworkers. The club is very well supported and is continuing to grow.

You would be responsible for the out of hours care of our children before school, after school and for three weeks of the school holiday in our holiday club. You will also assist with the deployment of play workers during lunchtime (for our nursery children only).

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential. You would need leadership skills to manage the team of 10 part time permanent staff members plus a bank of casual staff to plan, resources and deliver activities that contribute to the development of the whole child. You will have the responsibility of ensuring you are working with the correct ratios based on the age and needs of the children.

You will be responsible for the administration and finance associated with the role including register production, invoicing parents, debt collection and budget production. You will also be responsible for the safeguarding and health and safety of your team and the pupils in your care.

You would be expected to attend a termly Governing Board committee meeting for Governors who oversee the Woodpecker provision. You would also be trained to become a member of the Designated Safeguarding Team in school.

You would be responsible for promoting, managing and staffing the holiday club which takes place for one week during Easter and two weeks during the Summer holidays.

Your core hours would be 7:15am-9:30am and 2:30pm until 6:15pm the remaining hours could be worked flexibly between the core hours with negotiation.

The main purpose of the role is to provide children with opportunities for adult led, self-directed play or directed activity. The successful applicant will need to support and encourage the children in indoor and outdoor activities.

We can offer you a wonderful environment to work in, with large grounds and outside play equipment as well as the opportunity to lead an excellent team supporting parents with their childcare needs. The successful candidate will have a full handover and training in the role and the opportunity to take part in continued professional development.
