Warwick District Council is looking for an exceptional, committed and enthusiastic Assistant Conservation Officer to join the Conservation and Design team. This is a unique opportunity to work in an area containing a diverse range of heritage assets including over 30 conservation areas, around 2000 listed buildings and iconic national treasures such as Warwick Castle, Kenilworth Castle and Stoneleigh Abbey.
We are seeking candidates who are committed to effective heritage protection, excellent design and good customer service. The position is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to develop a career in conservation and IHBC membership. We are also committed to providing training opportunities for our employees including CPD and can offer a good work-life balance and home working.
You will have some knowledge of Conservation Principles, the National Planning Policy Framework, the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and ideally have paid or voluntary work experience in a similar role. Roles will include managing a caseload of listed building consent applications, administrating a local list of heritage assets, providing advice and guidance on heritage matters to a wide range of stakeholders, consulting on planning applications and assisting with planning enforcement matters.
The intention is for this jobholder to work from home with occasional office working and attendance at meetings/site visits when required. Full time office working is available if necessary.
