Grade 6 Pay Range £20,903 - £23,541 pro rata.  This is a term time only post (39.2 weeks) working 37 hours per week.  Actual Pay Range £18,071 - £20,352

The successful candidate will join a strong team of staff who are committed to improving outcomes for children.  As the PE/Sports specialist at Rocklands School, you will be able to have a positive impact on the physical, social and emotional well-being of our pupils.  

Rocklands School is a 125 place Generic Primary Special School for pupils aged 2 – 11 years with a range of needs, located within the Cathedral City of Lichfield and is part of the Manor Hall Academy Trust.

In addition to pupils with moderate and severe learning difficulties, we cater for the needs of pupils with very specific special educational needs, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and significant sensory difficulties. The curriculum, teaching and the learning environment are modified to meet the needs of all our pupils.

We are looking for a PE and Sports Specialist who can:

  • Plan and deliver a high quality PE Curriculum for our children
  • Organise and deliver CPD to school staff
  • Organise and deliver lunchtime activities and after school clubs
  • Organise and deliver inter and intra-competitions within our school and our local schools partnership
  • Be responsible for and work towards afPE Quality Mark for Physical Education, School Sport & Physical Activity
  • Be an effective role model that sets high expectations and motivates children to participate in sports or physical activity
  • Be enthusiastic and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work across the school
  • Be driven, motivated and most of all, is passionate about sports.

Essential requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent
  • A strong interest in and passion for sports and outdoor education
  • Previous coaching experience

Desirable:

  • GCSE in PE (Grade C or above) or equivalent
  • National coaching qualification(s) 
  • Duke of Edinburgh Awards
