Teaching Assistant

Actual salary £17 979 p.a. to £21 065 p.a.

Term time only, 37 hours a week

Queen’s Croft High School is looking for some new teaching assistants for this academic year. These roles are initially fixed term, (from start date to 31.7.22) but we expect that there will be some permanent roles available during the next school year.

Queen’s Croft is a large special school for young people aged 11 to 19 with a range of additional needs. Some of our highest achieving students will complete GCSE qualifications and move onto independent living and employment. Some of our students have more complex needs, find it difficult to communicate with us and are likely to need 24 hours supervision for the rest of their lives. And then there are lots of students in between these two extremes too. What they all have in common is that they like school and want to learn.

We have created a school environment where students build positive relationships with staff and where they are supported to build positive relationships with their peers too. We have high expectations for our students, whatever their level of skills, and are determined that they will make good progress – in learning and in their personal development. Our goal is independence for as many of our students as possible – we want them to be able to communicate independently, to be able to ask for extra help independently and to enjoy life as independently as possible.

This role provides a precious opportunity to develop skills within a school setting and extend your ability to communicate with individuals with additional needs. The role can be challenging and demanding, and we are looking for individuals with resilience and a good sense of humour. This is an exciting time to join a school that is in a period of rapid school improvements.

Completed application forms should be returned to the school either by post or electronically to recruitment@queenscroft.staffs.sch.uk.  The closing date for applications is 9am on Tuesday 28th September 2021. The Interview date is to be confirmed at shortlisting stage.

Visiting school for either vacancy: appointments can be made for after school (3.30pm to 5pm) on Monday 20th, Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 23rd September 2021.

We are actively looking to increase the diversity of our current hard-working staff team and would welcome applications from all the different sectors of our local community.

Further details of the post can be found on the school’s website www.queenscroft.staffs.sch.uk

This School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This position is subject to a criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions in your application form.
