Laboratory Technician

Salary:  £20,903- £23,541 per annum

 37 Hours per week – 2 Year Fixed Term Until November 2023

The Highways Laboratory at Staffordshire County Council is looking to recruit a Laboratory Technician working as part of a small team within the Laboratory to deliver specialist air monitoring testing services.

The applicant must have 2 GCSE’s (grade C or above) in Maths/ Science and English. The role of the Laboratory Technician is to carry out chemical analysis of air monitoring diffusion tubes and associated supporting administration to deliver the requirements of the service. An interest in science would be an advantage but full training will be given to the successful applicant.

The Highways Technical Service group sits in the Economy Infrastructure and Skills, Highways and the Built County. The Highways Laboratory plays a key role in supporting this function.

Key Requirements:

  • 2 GCSE’s (grade C or above) in Maths and English.
  • Knowledge and understanding of testing standards and material specifications.

Applicants must have:

  • Computing experience and be competent with software packages such as Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in working as part of a team.
  • A high degree of manual dexterity.
