Job Details
Do you hold a LGV Cat C licence, and would you like to assist with recycling?
Are you interested in learning how to drive a hook lift vehicle?
If the answer is yes to both of these questions then we have the perfect opportunity for you.
Warwickshire County Council provides valued and well used recycling facilities across the county and we are committed to reducing waste and its impact upon the environment. We are looking for a Class C Roll on Roll off driver to join us and help us with this mission.
We are looking for full time or part time Drivers who hold a Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) and can work some weekends and bank holidays.
The Role
As a Roll on Roll off Driver, you will help to keep our household waste recycling centres and transfer stations running efficiently and safely on behalf of Warwickshire County Council. You will do this by transporting roll on roll off skips to maintain capacity in this important public service. If you do not have experience of using a hook lift, you will attend a three day course and gain experience whilst working in post. You will use your initiative to ensure that the waste management service is running as efficiently as possible and that materials are taken for appropriate recycling and disposal.
Positives:
- No night work so you finish and go home every day
- Limited number of visits per day within the region
- Training can be given for use of hook lift
- Good employer with sick pay, annual leave
- Local Government Pension Scheme
Recycling Centres are open every day of the week because people like to recycle and dispose of their materials at weekends and bank holidays. We invite people who are able to work some weekends to apply. The job also involves driving on landfill.
Salary:
Scale F: £20,092 to £21,748 plus overtime for Sunday and bank holiday work
Average 37 hours a week
Key Requirements
To be successful you will be a team player with a positive outlook and an ability to add value. You will be able to use your own initiative and have good communication skills to relay information in a timely manner. You will have great driving skills and have experience of remaining calm in stressful environments and situations. You will have sufficient literate and numerate ability to complete load and transfer documentation (basic training will be given where appropriate). As a primary frontline service for the Authority you will keep a smart appearance and maintain a professional manner.
