Advanced Social Work Practitioner 

£35,745 - £38,890

Are you a qualified Social Worker with significant post qualifying experience? Do you have considerable experience of Adult Safeguarding including the Making Safeguarding Personal agenda and a Strengths Based focus? If so, then we have an exciting opportunity for a permanent, full-time Advanced Social Work Practitioner with a specific focus in Domestic Abuse. You must have experience of dealing with people who have experienced or perpetrated domestic abuse. You will be the Domestic Abuse link and develop expertise in the role to support the implementation of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 in Worcestershire. You will be based in the Adult Safeguarding Team at County Hall, Worcester.

Key accountabilities

  • As an Advanced Social Work Practitioner you will initiate and develop subject matter expertise, acting as a point of contact for staff within Adult Social Care and partner agencies who need advice on domestic abuse issues.
  • You will initiate and develop links with partners from other organisations to develop a broader understanding of domestic abuse and encourage joint working relationships.
  • You will model and advocate a strengths-based approach to supporting people who have experienced domestic abuse and act on opportunities to enhance the support provided to people experiencing domestic abuse and perpetrators.

Skills & experience

It is essential that the post holder has:

  • Significant post-qualifying experience in adult safeguarding including a substantial amount of time working as an experienced social worker
  • Significant experience of working with people who have experienced or perpetrated domestic abuse
  • Significant experience of working with adults without capacity to make decisions as described by legislation
  • Applied knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act 2014 and associated legislation
  • Excellent communication skills including face to face and in writing. Ability to motivate and influence through communications.
