This is a full-time position Monday - Friday in a variable shift pattern working between the hours of 6.15 a.m. (earliest) and 6.45 p.m. (latest) and may include some occasional evening work for school events. St Thomas Aquinas is a large and thriving 11-18 Catholic comprehensive school where staff and students from all faiths live out the school mission and every member of the community feels valued and engaged. In 2018, the school was judged to be Good by OFSTED. The School requires: an enthusiastic, hardworking Assistant Building Services Supervisor to join the Site Team as soon as possible. Attention to detail and a pride in their work would be an essential requirement. The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and to produce work to the required standard and to agreed timescales. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills to communicate with a wide range of people. It is an exciting time to join St Thomas Aquinas School as we became part of the Lumen Christi Catholic Multi Academy on the 1 April 2015, this links us with five of our Catholic Primary Feeder Schools and brings real opportunity for collaborate teaching and learning. You will be responsible for:

  • general maintenance of the school buildings and grounds under the direction of the Site Manager including: DIY tasks, decorating, plumbing, repairs, cleaning (training is available for certain tasks)
  • maintenance of the school minibuses - cleaning and regular checks
  • general janitorial duties throughout the school day to ensure all facilities are clean and safe
  • working as a team member in setting up for regular assemblies and large school events throughout the academic calendar
  • assisting in the opening/closing of the Site when appropriate

 You must be able to show you have practical experience to undertake maintenance work of the Site. Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, general maintenance experience would be beneficial. You would be supported in the role by a fellow Assistant Building Services Supervisor and managed by the Site Manager.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.

Informal visits to the School are encouraged to see the school at work and meet with the Site Manager.
