This role will work within the Cultural Service team of Warwick District Council, and specifically working in support of the Commonwealth Games, Projects, Sports and Business Admin sections of the service area.

We are looking for an individual with enthusiasm and willingness to learn, and a flexibility to support the rest of the team as required. We are a small team which often means individuals need to be ready to pick up new work with little notice and learn to prioritise the demands on their time.

Much of our work involves direct contact with members of the public and other customers (clubs and stakeholder groups) who can be quite demanding at times, so patience and tact are key qualities that we will be looking for in the successful candidate.

The apprentice post will be based within the Commonwealth Games team but will provide admin support across the wider teams in the service area. With the Commonwealth Games less than a year away, the pressure is on the team to ensure that all is in hand ready for summer 2022.

The apprentice will be part of the WDC team responsible for the WDC elements of the Games in a support role. The role will also include monitoring and responding to telephone and email contacts, setting up meetings for colleagues, gathering data and presenting it in a format as required by colleagues, overseeing sports bookings, and collating information from a number of sources.

Given that the teams in the service area are still working significant hours from home, it is essential that the apprentice is confident in working unsupervised, though there will be an opportunity for some office-based work as we move towards the Games in summer 2022.

We are looking for someone who has a good eye for detail and a genuine interest in sports and leisure. The successful candidate will have sound written and spoken communication skills and be a confident user of Microsoft Word (and ideally some Excel skills).

If you have any questions or wish to have a informal discussion about the role, please contact Christine Boxer, Commonwealth Games Project Manager by email christina.boxer@warwickdc.gov.uk
