Due to the promotion of our current Deputy Head Teacher to Head Teacher we are looking for an inspirational, innovative and highly skilled person to take on the role of Deputy Head Teacher at Chad Vale Primary School from January 2022.

Chad Vale Primary School is a heavily over-subscribed primary school (current NOR 420) situated in Edgbaston and serving the local communities of Harborne, Edgbaston, Quinton and Ladywood. We have worked very hard to create the harmonious learning community that has become known as the ‘Chad Vale Way’. Our children’s behaviour is excellent and achievement and progress is high. Parents are highly supportive and extremely proud to be part of the ‘Chad Vale Family’ and we are recognised in the community as a centre of outstanding and cutting edge practice. Chad Vale was last inspected by Ofsted in April 2018 with an overall grade of ‘Good’. The school has been ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ since 2002.

The Deputy Head Teacher role is non-class based and is an excellent opportunity to further develop leadership and management skills with a highly enthusiastic and aspirational team of staff and governors. We are also looking for someone who is up-to-date with the latest developments in the world of education who can apply a creative approach to ongoing school improvement.

Specific roles expected of this position will be:

  • to support the ongoing improvement of the school by working closely with the Headteacher and governors in leading school self-evaluation and development/strategic planning
  • to drive improvements in the school curriculum ensuring statutory requirements and coverage are met and children experience ‘memory-making’ learning at all times
  • to drive improvements in reading and support the team of teachers, HLTA’s and teaching assistants to maintain the high outcomes for pupils in early phonics
  • responsibility for ongoing Continuing Professional Needs throughout the school; identifying, enabling and evaluating the impact of external and internal INSET
  • to be a trusted coach and mentor for a wide range of staff and support the Headteacher in ongoing teacher appraisal and development
  • to be committed to supporting the mental health of the school community and negate any impact of the pandemic

We intend to offer the successful candidate a range of professional development opportunities in order to support their role. This will include involvement of the school in the Birmingham Education Partnership’s peer review school improvement programme, NPQH and any other training identified as the role develops.

Informal visits to school are welcome and encouraged, please call the school on 0121 464 7329 or email enquiry@chadvale.bham.sch.uk for more details or information.

Closing date: 4 October 2021, 12 noon

There is a clear vision which is ensuring that the Council is working for communities today and building for tomorrow, we focus our resources on five key priorities:

  • A Prosperous Birmingham: through a focus on inclusive economic growth, tackling unemployment, attracting inward investment, and maximising the benefits of the Commonwealth Games.
  • An Inclusive Birmingham: through a focus on tackling poverty and inequality, empowering citizens, promoting diversity and civic pride, and supporting and enabling all children and young people to thrive.
  • A Safe Birmingham: through a focus on making the city safer, safeguarding vulnerable citizens, increasing affordable housing, and tackling homelessness.
