Lindridge St Lawrence Primary School is looking for looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic Clerk to Governors. In this exciting role, the successful candidate will provide advice to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters and be the official channel of communication to and from the governing body and the academy to enable the governing body to function smoothly and efficiently.

Main responsibilities include:
 

  • Preparation of agenda to incorporate relevant reports and actions from previous minutes in consultation with the Head teacher, Chair of Governors.
  • Progressing actions on minutes, including ensuring prompt circulation to governors and other interested parties.
  • Liaise with those preparing papers for meetings to ensure they are available for distribution, and distribute the agenda and papers at least a week before the meeting.
  • To attend Governing Body and committee meetings to prepare draft detailed minutes (including evidence of governors’ support and challenge for Ofsted purposes) and progress action arising out of meetings as necessary.
  • To have oversight of membership of Governing Body/Board served and to advise the Head teacher and Chair of Governors of forthcoming vacancies and to assist in the administration of elections/ appointments.
  • Record Governors attendance at formal meetings and to alert the Head teacher and Chair of Governors to possible disqualification in line with governance, and to research specific governance requirements for community interest company’s regulations.
  • To develop and maintain a good general knowledge of governance regulations and other relevant legislation.
  • To maintain confidentiality of information in line with Data protection legislation and safeguarding requirements.
