Job Details

Are you our perfect (finance) fit?

At WME we advocate, build and champion people centred organisations for a resilient and diverse public sector workforce.

We are a not-for-profit public sector organisation owned by the local authorities of the West Midlands.  We work at the heart of local government supporting Councils in their role as employers, and we also deliver a wide and varied range of products and services including recruitment (including WMJobs.co.uk), HR services, leadership and development, OD and coaching and mentoring.

We have a fantastic team of 20 staff and whilst we may be small in size - we are big on ambition! Our culture is open, friendly, supportive, and innovative.  Our reputation is built on a commitment and passion for the highest quality of customer focused services, and we are proud to be part of the local government family with a workforce of over 116,000 people.

You will be joining WME at an exciting time as we embed 'new ways of working' following the Pandemic. We are working more flexibly; mixing homeworking with time spent in our modern collaboration hub, where we can come together as a team, or drop in to work within an office environment.  We are excited by the new opportunities ahead and what this means for the services we provide to our councils who are also transforming how they work.

This finance role is a key part of our corporate team and will require you to work across the whole team and all our service strands. Ideally, we are looking for someone with lots of experience of working within a financial role set in a small or medium sized organisation, as we value the wider business knowledge that you will have gained from this type of experience. We intend that this role will lead on our purchase ledger activities, dovetailing with our other Finance Assistant leading on sales ledger.

If WME sounds like your kind of organisation, if you have the type of experience and skills we need, if you relish a busy role, love problem solving and get a buzz from meeting deadlines, then we really want to hear from you as you could be a perfect fit for #teamWME.

This is a part time role of 21 hours to be worked flexibly across 3-5 days. It's a busy team, and you will be working closely with our Finance Team Leader, Finance Assistant and Assistant Director Finance & Governance, as well as colleagues in the wider business support team. You will provide a full range of financial services across our organisation with responsibility for purchase ledger activity. You will have a keen eye for service improvement opportunities, be self-motivated, systems savvy and a problem solver. You will need to work effectively to tight deadlines and be committed to high quality customer service within an innovative organisation.

An assessment centre interview will take place at our premises in Willenhall on Wednesday 3rd November.

This will include an in-tray exercise, an informal chat with a staff panel, and a formal interview.

Visit our website www.wmemployers.org.uk to find out more about WME and what we do.

Please note: We anticipate a high level of interest for this role so this advert will be closed as soon as sufficient quality applications are received. We therefore strongly advise that you complete and return your application as soon as possible.
