We have a fantastic opportunity at The Diocese of Worcester to join our forward-thinking education team. We are passionate about our diocesan mission to young people and as our new Deputy Director you will be key in delivering our vision.

This will be an exciting and challenging role that spans the worlds of education and the Church of England. In this role you will:

  • Lead the policy and strategy for school effectiveness work and advice for schools within the diocesan SLA and oversee the delivery of this to schools.
  • Ensure that pupils come first in all our church schools, are always safe and grow as children of God
  • Ensure that high quality statutory education that expresses the Christian ethos is integral to the Church’s mission and ministry in the Diocese of Worcester.
  • Support the DDE in delivering on our commitment to excellence and distinctiveness in all church schools
  • Work with others to ensure an integrated diocesan strategy for engagement with young people and children.

You will be passionate about church school education, with substantial education experience including a proven history of school effectiveness development as well as significant leadership experience within an education establishment. You will need an excellent understanding and knowledge of the world of primary and secondary education, including the place and nature of Church of England schools and an understanding of the Church of England’s Vision for Education.

To thrive in this role you will be adaptable and have a sense of humour. You will be energised by faith and have a passionate desire to resource and enthuse all those who work towards their flourishing.

Hours:            full time, 35 hours per week (to include evenings and weekends as required).

Location:        a mix of home, school and office based (central Worcester). This post will involve travel regularly. A current driving licence is essential unless suitable alternative arrangements can be made.
