Our successful Public Health and Wellbeing Directorate work with local organisations, politicians, business and communities to deliver public health priorities of reducing loneliness and social isolation, tackling obesity, reducing poverty through strength-based approaches.  

Dudley’s Director of Public Health and Wellbeing is seeking to recruit a full time equivalent Consultant in Public Health/Heads of Service to provide strategic public health leadership across the council and wider partnerships. We have strong focus on tackling health inequalities, building healthier communities and creating places, services and models of working that strengthen and develop our approach to prevention. Successful candidates can be full, part time or job share.  public health leaders, agile team players who have applied their high-level skills across their work to enable effective transformation, policy and programme development which embeds a public health approach.  Candidates will already have professional registration or be able to demonstrate that they will achieve UKPHR registration within 6 months of their appointment.

Hours: 37.50 per week or part time/ job - share is considered.

Salary: Commensurate with NHS band 8D/medical

Post holders will form part of the Senior Leadership Team which includes 4 Consultants in Public Health, Head of Health Protection, Emergency Planning and Regulatory Services and will be supported by committed teams.

This  post is focussed on children and young people’s health and wellbeing, however we will shape the portfolios to successful applicants’ strengths and interests. This is a  rewarding role which would suit an individual looking for the challenge to make a difference across our borough.
