The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a unique service which supports refugees and more recently the Afghanistan programmes to resettle in Worcestershire.

The UK resettlement programme supports individuals and families for up to five years, who have been displaced which is delivered in partnership with the Home Office and United Nations Higher Commission for Refugees. We work to empower, advocate for, and educate refugees in our care as they learn to build new lives in the UK.

We are now also supporting the Afghan Relocation Assistance Policy (ARAP) scheme, supporting the relocation of current and former locally employed staff by Her Majesties Government who were assessed to be at serious risk.

This role involves holistic support for people of all ages, who have arrived in the UK as part of the UK Resettlement Scheme, Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme or Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy.

As we anticipate the continuation of refugee resettlement, we are looking for two Support Workers, one with a specialism in housing and one who is fluent Pashto/Dari.

This is a role that requires flexibility in both the working week and at weekends especially when we are preparing for arrivals.

Successfully candidates need to be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a changing environment with flexibility, creativity, and a positive approach.

Managing a diverse caseload who could be placed across a wide geographical area in Worcestershire your support will be at different points in their UK induction and integration and so will need varying levels of guidance and assistance. You will work with individuals and families to create a long-term support plan tailored to their needs. You will develop pathways for integration over a 5-year period, prioritising the empowerment and independence of those in our service.

Proven experience of developing strong links and working relationships with other professional agencies, community-based services, and, in some instances, volunteers, working collaboratively on the support needs of children, young people, and their families, particularly where there are concerns for their integration, education, employment, health, housing or welfare. This might include participating in, organising, and/or potentially leading multi-agency meetings.

For an informal discussion  about this post please contact Natasha White, Operations Manager on resettlement@worcestershire.gov.uk  or please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification for more details of this role.
