Job Details

The Civic Function Suite is based at Burton Town Hall. We are customer facing and offer a variety of rooms to hire for events such as meetings, parties and wedding celebrations. Dealing with the public is one of the main requirements of the role. We are also a licensed wedding venue. Formal civic functions take place at the Town Hall on a regular basis.
As a Duty Supervisor, you'll provide mainly evening or weekend supervision of a variety of functions, as required, on a rota basis with other supervisors, providing excellent customer service to hirers. Events can include licensable events (which may involve the provision of alcohol) and weddings. The position also includes being available to work behind the bar serving drinks, when required.
You'll have excellent customer care skills, with the ability to deal with competing demands. You should be able to confidently deal with any emergency situation and liaise with the relevant agencies as necessary. The role involves answering and resolving customer queries during the hire of the venue. As a frontline member of the team, you must be smart and professional at all times.
We are looking for candidates who have previous customer care experience, who are able to remain calm under pressure, and deal effectively and diplomatically with all customers. Previous experience of operating a PA system and lighting boards, and bar work, along with knowledge of the Challenge 25 Initiative and the Licensing Act 2003 would be desirable.
East Staffordshire Borough Council has a commitment to the Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a basic Disclosure & Barring Service Check.

The Council is actively building diverse teams and welcomes applications from everyone, including people of different age, sex, gender, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation. ESBC is a Disability Confident Employer.
