Head of Service – Business Insights – Ref: SS02121
Salary – G16: £74,368 - £80,824 per annum.

Walsall is a town with ambition. Walsall is proud of its past and excited about its future. Walsall celebrates a rich mix of culture, heritage and community.

At Walsall Council we are driving an ambitious agenda, supporting economic growth for all people, communities and businesses in the borough; creating an environment where businesses can thrive and invest and everyone who wants a job can access one.

We want our residents to be proud of their vibrant town, districts and communities and to be able to optimise their health and wellbeing so they can benefit from all that’s on offer.

To deliver our ambitious objectives we are changing our ways of thinking, changing our behaviours, and changing how we get things done through our Proud transformation.

The key to unlock our transformation is the development of the Council Hub, which is being designed to ensure a holistic Council-wide view, setting standards and focusing effort on priorities.

The Council Hub will provide insight about the people of Walsall and our town and be informed about what is important to them. It will raise the profile of Walsall and enhance the contribution that the Council makes through its leadership and resources through better understanding of needs and priorities.

The development of the new Strategy and Policy team, and the Business Insights team within the Hub will be at the forefront of making that change happen. As the Hub is implemented you will have a pivotal role in helping develop the culture and changes needed for success. These are two critical posts that offer skilled and motivated people an exciting opportunity to help drive the ambition for change.

The Head of policy and strategy will lead and support a team that both develops and coproduces policy and strategy from design through to implementation, engaging with partners and taking account of the views of residents.

The Head of Business Insights will lead and support a performance and business intelligence team that focusses on delivery of a performance and business intelligence function that supports all services across the Council.

Both roles require skilled and motivated leaders, with an excellent track record of delivery, who can develop unique ideas and build strong relationships within the Council and with partners. You will be confident in building new service operating models in times of change. As the Council's lead officers on the development of key strategies and performance, supported by quality business insights you'll have an important engagement role across the Council facilitating collaborative approaches that work well for the benefits of our residents.

We expect that you'll already have an accomplished track record in a national or local public service where resident’s ability to live their best lives are at the heart of what we do. You will have led on the successful development of corporate strategies through to implementation and know how to measure success; or you will have an inspiring career in developing innovative business insights approaches that inform important thinking and decision making about what we do.
