Business Support is key to the success of our Children’s Services because our Business Support teams are there, making sure things run smoothly, so that our frontline colleagues can deliver for children and families in the community. All that work in the background doesn’t just happen, it takes dedicated colleagues, taking pride in their work and seeing a purpose in the work they are doing.
You might be leading a team of other Business Support colleagues, or you might be assisting Social Work colleagues by updating service user records on the IT systems we use. Importantly everything we do in Business Support, will have a positive impact on people across Staffordshire.
We have a few different roles available in our Cannock District which are:
Business Support Assistant Team Leader –Grade 6
1 x 15 hours permanent working Wednesday and Thursday
To assist with the co-ordination and management of business support services based within the district and provide a range of financial and administrative tasks to support the provision of a timely and high-quality business support service for Staffordshire County Council.
Business Support Officer (PA to Social Worker) – Grade 5 –
1 x 18.5 hours permanent working Monday, Wednesday and Friday
The primary aim of this role is to provide dedicated administrative support to Social Workers enabling them to increase their time with children, young people and their families. You will undertake a wide variety of tasks, including the attendance and minuting of meetings.
Business Support Officer (Statutory Services)
The successful candidate will provide core business functions in addition to working closely with team managers, social workers, professionals and partners. This will include attending and servicing a variety of statutory meetings across the District/s. In addition, there will be the opportunity to support wider more generic office functions to support the delivery of all business support services.
Business Support Administrator – Grade 4
1 x 37 hours permanent
This role is to provide business support for the SEND & Inclusion Hub and Early Years Forum flexibly, predominantly across one district although may be required to cover across other Districts. Working with key professionals, you will arrange, attend and service a variety of meetings across the District/s, to support the discussion and organisation of support strategies for individual children. You will also support wider more generic office functions.
Business Support Assistant (Practitioner Team) – Grade 3
2 x 37 hours permanent
1 x 19 hours permanent working across 5 afternoons
1 x 22 hours temporary until 31st March 2022 (days negotiable)
This role will focus on providing a range of core administrative and financial functions to support practitioners and you will be a first point of contact for enquiries. You will use departmental databases and financial systems and the full range of Microsoft packages as part of your daily administrative work.
Across our Business Support roles, the main duties will tend to include:
- Maintaining and monitoring ICT systems including the input and retrieval of data
- Producing high level, accurate documents
- Minute taking at meetings
- Varied administrative and customer care duties
What do we need from you?
Working in Business Support requires teamwork, good organisational skills and a good level of competency using IT systems. You’ll also need:
- Good communication skills because you’ll interact with lots of people across the organisation and externally through phone, in person and email
- A flexible approach to work as sometimes things can change, and so you’ll need to be able to prioritise work and sometimes change tasks quickly
- A passion to always give the best service
