The Role

Long Lawford Primary School is a large 3 form entry primary school situated in the village of Long Lawford, Rugby. We are a happy, forward thinking school, passionate about ensuring all children have access to the highest quality education in a safe and stimulating environment.

We are looking to appoint a committed, highly professional and enthusiastic School Office Admin Assistant who is approachable, efficient and resourceful at all times. You will be passionate about working within our school as we continue our school improvement journey to excellence. You will be the first point of contact for parents, pupils and other visitors to the school creating an efficient, polite and welcoming first impression.

A 'hands on' approach with the ability to be calm whilst prioritising your work is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. General admin support is a significant part of this busy role, and candidates should have a good working knowledge of general office systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher etc). Knowledge of school MIS systems is desirable but not essential.


25.0 Hours per Week

Key Requirements

The post is permanent and the hours are 25 hours per week (8.00am - 1.00pm Monday - Friday). The position is term time only with 5 teacher training days per academic year.

We are looking for an individual who:

•Has strong time management skills and the ability to manage workloads and deadlines in a busy and demanding environment.
•Can relate well to both children and adults and have excellent interpersonal skills and a good sense of humour.
•Is able to deal with difficult situations in a professional manner.
•Understands confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
•Is able to work effectively as a team member within our hardworking, talented and friendly team, demonstrating a flexible attitude to work.
•Has general administration/office experience working in a busy office environment.
•Has good IT skills with the ability to adapt well to using new software, a willingness to undertake further training is essential.

Typical duties will include:

•Dealing with telephone enquiries to the school. Making outgoing routine telephone calls as requested.
•Greeting pupils, parents, visitors and contractors to the school, signing in and out, issuing security passes and adhering to safeguarding guidelines. Providing necessary hospitality.
•Communicating with parents/carers and other agencies, by telephone, email, the school app and face to face.
•Postal duties including receiving, opening and distributing incoming mail and despatching outgoing mail. Receive and check contents of parcel deliveries and distribute as necessary.
•Duplicating & distribution of information.
•Dealing with pupil attendance and school meal registers.
•General word processing and routine I.T. administration across the school.
•Provide administrative support to the organisation of events in school, ie student trips, parents’ evenings, open evenings etc.
