Assistant Director for Integration and Service Development

Worcestershire County Council

People Directorate

As a forward-looking local authority that is committed to achieving the best with our local residents, Worcestershire County Council (WCC) is a fantastic place in which to further your career. Across all that we do, we endeavour to shape services that are person focused , and this is particularly true of our ambitious People Directorate. Made up of Adult Social Care, Communities Public Health and as commissioners of Worcestershire Children’s First, this multidisciplinary team share a vision of enabling residents to live healthier, longer and better-quality lives. We want to empower the  local population to be independent , and we seek to deliver support that is  high quality and delivers exceptional value for money – and now we have a fascinating and highly visible opportunity for you to take centre stage in these ambitions.

We are currently in the process of transforming the way in which the People Directorate places asset based approaches at the heart of our support as a new member of this leadership team, you could make a bold impact on our most innovative  services. Within the Council, you will join the Chief Officer Group, and enable high-profile health and social care transformation programme that will result in integrated and accessible services that promote independence, wellbeing and choice.

This is a great opportunity to transform what we are currently achieving and what we are committed to delivering in the future. As such, you will oversee the  change process with the Director, facilitating some of our  collaboration between health and social care professionals from a variety of organisations, into newly integrated and highly innovative services. Like many Local Authorities, we are working within tight  resources, so you will take the lead in building upon our  new strategic direction and bold solutions that are cost-effective and fit for purpose. We are looking for someone who can  develop partnerships with other public, private and third-sector organisations. Helping teams design and embed new approaches to working within your proposed model (including determining where technology could improve our capabilities), you will be quick to address and mitigate risks to your programmes, and you will shape a culture of continuous improvement.

You will  excel in our team if you are an inspirational leader who can inspire confidence in your proposed changes. It therefore goes without saying that you will bring gravitas to the role, and you will be both a great communicator and influencer. With the capacity to make effective decisions in a high-pressure environment, we will expect you to have previous experience of working at a senior  level in a complex organisation.  You will have a background in transforming services and organisational design, including securing or supporting improvements for patients and the public.

As a member of our team, you can expect a great deal of job satisfaction, with the scope to deliver a better future for those who access  services. We want you to thrive in our team, so we will also support you with the competitive benefits package that includes access to the desirable local government pension scheme, plus generous holiday allowance. Whatever you want to achieve, do it with Worcestershire County Council.

Closing date: Midnight Sunday 24 October 2021
