Solicitor/Senior Solicitor Adult social care
Wolverhampton City Council, lexcel accredited Legal Services team is seeking an experienced adult social care solicitor to join its busy social care team.
The successful candidate will be required to carry a caseload dealing with matters including, but not limited to:
- Advising on adult social care law children matters relating to Court of Protection proceedings, Mental Health and general adult social care matters.
- Advocacy experience in all tiers of court, including the High court, County Court and Court of Protection.
- Advising senior officers within the local authority.
You will be required to pick up an existing caseload from the outset and the successful candidate must have experience in conducting adult social care work including DOLS

The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor or barrister with previous adult social care experience. Children social care experience is desirable.
and You will be required to demonstrate advocacy skills and a willingness to undertake advocacy. To succeed in this role, you will have recent in-depth knowledge and post qualification experience in Adult Social Care litigation. Experience in mental health including Court of Protection and education is desirable.
As a great communicator you must be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills as well as demonstrable skills and strengths in negotiation, drafting, persuading and influencing. You will need to have an ability to command the respect, trust and confidence of your clients and senior managers as well as the court.
You will be working on some of the most sensitive and challenging, yet the most rewarding of cases, supporting our Social Care clients in achieving the best outcomes for vulnerable within the City.
The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience of the law and practice relating to safeguarding adults litigation and court of protection and proven advocacy skills to represent the Council in contested proceedings. You will need to be highly motivated, enthusiastic and work effectively as part of a team.
Knowledge and understanding of local government and procedures, and an appreciation of the challenges facing local authorities is desirable.
