The Role
Exhall Grange is a 4-19 community maintained specialist school which meets the needs of children and young people with visual impairment, physical disabilities, complex medical needs and social and communication interaction difficulties.
We offer a mainstream curriculum and endeavour to break down barriers to learning. Through high quality teaching and personalised support, we aim to unlock the potential of every pupil so that they leave our school as well-rounded citizens, ready to embrace the next step of their learning journey.
This role will support students on a supported internship as part of the EmployAbility Programme, to assist them to develop work related skills while at their work placement.
32.5 Hours per Week
Fixed term contract end date: 31/08/2022
Key Requirements
We would like you to have :-
•a recognised and relevant NVQ level 3 qualification and have experience working with students in a work environment.
•at least GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at grade A-C
•good level of knowledge and understanding of SEND and areas of the curriculum
•good communication skills in order to be able to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, management team members, colleagues and customers within your work environment
•previous Teaching Assistant / Job Coach experience or similar role
•an understanding of, and is able to support, the Post-16 curriculum
•an understanding of school's policies and how they relate to local and national frameworks/policies (e.g. child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities, SEND)
•the ability to use IT effectively to support learning
•the ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple projects and work assignments with minimal supervision
•problem solving skills and be able to exercise initiative and independent action.
