Teacher of Mathematics

Job Title: Teacher of maths

Salary: MPS/UPS

Reports to: Director of Physical Sciences/Principal

Key Purpose

To deliver high-quality teaching in mathematics resulting in good outcomes for students

To provide caring and responsive pastoral care for the students within the post holder’s tutor group

To contribute towards enrichment opportunities for students

Key Roles and Responsibilities:    

Responsibility for own personal performance and for that of the students taught and tutored by the post holder.  As a member of staff at Shireland Biomedical UTC, there is an expectation to uphold and promote the values and ethos of the school and contribute to the development of students

Additional individual responsibilities will be agreed on appointment, but all subject teachers will be responsible for:

1. Their own personal professional development and performance
2. Assessment of progress of students and groups of students, the tracking of progress and the outcomes of students in the groups taught
3. The pastoral care of students and particularly of those within the tutor group of the post holder
4. Upholding the policies and procedures of the school
5. Contributing to the development of the school, as appropriate
6. Contributing to student enrichment opportunities
7. Supporting colleagues to ensure that the highest standards of conduct are maintained by students
8. Representing the school internally and externally
9. Being responsible for the welfare and safeguarding of students whilst maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity to students’ needs but have regard to the safeguarding procedures of the school.
