About the Learning and Community Engagement team

The Learning and Community Engagement team (Lace) consists of the Senior Lace Officer, a Lace Officer, a Lace Trainee, the Volunteer Coordinator, an Exhibitions and Engagement Officer who are the core team, and several teams of staff who deliver our activity programmes. We deliver workshops for schools at HCW sites and in schools, an events and activities programme for families and adult audiences at the Market Hall museum and the County Record Office, we run regular groups that meet at the Market Hall museum such as Arty Tots, we run sleepovers and supervise overnight commercial hire of St Johns House. The Support Assistant and Overnight activities teams also support the Development Team with the delivery of events for income generation.

Our school workshop programme is delivered by a team of Group Leaders, assisted by the Support Assistant team.  The Support Assistant team, with the Evening and Overnight Activity Leaders team, deliver our family holiday events in the Market Hall Museum and evening events. The Evening and Overnight Activity Leaders also supervise and run group sleepovers at the Market Hall museum.

About the role of Relief Schools and Activities Support Assistant

This role is working with the Learning and Community Engagement team to support school group visits to our three sites in Warwick, Market Hall and St Johns House museums and the Warwickshire County Record Office. You will work alongside the Group Leader team, meeting and greeting visiting school groups, ensuring Group Leaders have all the resources they need, assisting in workshop delivery where required, and making sure the buildings are clean at the end of the school visit. With other Support Assistants you will deliver our holiday activities for families at the Market Hall museum and other venues in Warwick, as well as assist in the delivery of special events such as the Haunted House experience and escape games. All carried out during the normal opening hours of the sites and at evenings and weekends. From time to time the role will also include assisting with private functions at the Market Hall museum alongside the Development Team.

We are looking for individuals who enjoy working with people and are friendly and welcoming. Good organisational and time keeping skills will help you succeed in this role.  Teamworking and communication is key to this role. Although an interest in heritage is useful it is not essential for this role.

The post is offered as a casual contract as the availability of work is dependent upon school groups making bookings for workshops at our museum sites and the programming of events at the Market Hall museum.
