The BDES mission is to announce the joy of the Gospel by making Christ known today through securing, protecting and improving the provision of Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

We fulfil our mission by working collaboratively with our over 230 Archdiocesan schools and 16 Multi Academies to provide faith-filled schools where children can thrive. It is an exciting time in the Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham. We are working with all of our multi academies and schools to ensure children for generations to come can access high quality Catholic education and enrichment through strong and effective families of schools within a Multi Academy Company. We are also directly aligning our multi academy strategy with the Archdiocesan Vision recently set out by His Grace, Archbishop Bernard Longley.

➢ Are you skilled in senior leadership recruitment and selection?

➢ Do you have experience in designing and delivering training and development programmes for senior leaders?

➢ Are you a Christ-centred servant leader yourself committed to ensuring we secure and develop the next generation of Catholic leaders for our schools and MACs?

➢ Are you passionate that we should provide all children, particularly the most vulnerable and disadvantaged, what they need to develop and grow as well as the inspiration not only to be global citizens but to ‘become saints’ as Pope Benedict called us to do?

The role of Senior Advisor (Senior Leadership Recruitment and Training) is a new role at the Birmingham Diocesan Education Service. In this time of transformation and innovation we are looking for someone to join our small but high impact team to support the BDES in effectively advising on senior leadership recruitment and selection for protected positions across the Archdiocese as well as supporting aspiring and existing leaders in their faith formation, training and development – ensuring that our shared mission as well as best practice informs all aspects of our work. With any transformational change comes challenge, so we are looking for someone that has flexibility and resilience but, with support and collective endeavour, wishes to make an active contribution to achieving our Archdiocesan Vision through the unique role of the BDES.

We understand that there are a range of professional experiences that could provide transferrable skills and expertise to add value to this area of our work. Key to this will be the desire to seek continuous improvement and willingness to undertake ongoing CPD (formal and self-instructed) to achieve this.

Further information, including the role description, person specification and application form, can be found on the BDES webpage at www.bdes.org.uk/vacancies/senioradvisorSL/ If you have any questions, please contact Yvonne Salter Wright by email at leadership@bdes.org.uk or call 07961 635 164. We are keen to speak with you about this unique opportunity and actively encourage prospective candidates to visit the BDES team at Don Bosco House, Coleshill B46 3EA prior to the closing date for applications.

Closing date for applications: 12 noon on Monday, 22 November 2021

Assessments and Interviews: Wednesday, 1 December 2021

Start Date: As soon as possible but will wait for the right candidate

Hours: Full-time, though flexible part-time of not less than .8FTE would be considered but must be able to work across 5 days/wk Monday to Friday
